The Manitowoc IYT1500N//D970 cube ice maker with bin can produce 1,770 pounds of ice in a day. Production can be set to match the amount of ice in the bin or the time of day. Using the head is facilitated by its icon-based easyTouch control panel, which runs 24-hour diagnostics to find maintenance issues and alert the operator. Some of the internal components are removable for cleaning, and some have antimicrobial protection built in to slow bacteria growth between each cleaning.

This unit is designed to operate with a remote condenser (sold separately), which can be installed a distance from the ice machine, usually on the roof or in another room, to move noise and heat away from the ice maker. This unit uses air to cool the refrigerant that chills the evaporator plate, over which water is run that freezes progressively to form ice cubes.

Ice is stored in the bin, which can hold 882 pounds. An included 5.3-pound-capacity ice scoop with knuckle and thumb guards protects ice from contaminants.
