Made of cast iron, the platens in the Equipex PANINI PREMIUM/1 commercial panini press are sturdier and heavier than aluminum options, and when compared to thinner materials, these dense plates conduct and retain heat better. Both the top and bottom platens are grooved, leaving grill marks on both sides of the food without having to flip it. Equipped with a self-balancing design, the upper plate settles on top of the product, presses it consistently, and achieves an even grill. Because the handle on the top plate is heavy duty, operators can lower the top onto the grill without it bending or warping.

The heating system in this Equipex PANINI PREMIUM/1 panini grill is designed to operate rapidly while providing a consistent heating pattern on the plates, and its temperature is adjustable on the thermostat, which has a maximum 570-degree Fahrenheit setting. On the selector switch, operators can set the unit to cook with heat on the top and bottom plates or set the heat to the bottom only for grill operation. Integrated into the unit, a timer enables staff members to track the grilling process.
